Monthly Blood Pressure Check

Drop in for a free blood pressure check on Second Wednesday from 11 AM to noon.  Provided by Iredell Home Health.  

Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) - Medicare and Insurance Counseling

At Iredell Senior Center, volunteer counselors trained by the NC Dept. of Insurance provide free individual assistance to people, who are Medicare eligible.  Counselors advise about Medicare, Medicare Part D, Low Income Subsidy Assistance, Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage, long term care insurance supplements, and assist with billing problems, and Medicare fraud and abuse.  For additional information or a SHIIP appointment, please phone the Senior Center at 704-873-8568.

Legal Services – Free simple legal services provided by local attorney Ms. Beth Setzer.

Senior Law Project/Legal Aid of NC

At Iredell Senior Center, legal services are provided quarterly by Attorney Angie Dorsey.  Lawyers assist with telephone consults (advice) and may provide services for other legal concerns. Visit their website at:  www.legalaidnc.org   Phone Legal Aid of NC for legal advice or to see the attorney at 1-877-579-7562, Mon through Fri, from 9 to 11 AM and 1 to 3 PM.  An attorney will return your call after you have completed the intake process.

Long Term Care Counseling

Counseling services for long term care (assisted living and nursing home) placement, residents’ rights, and/or questions or problems in long term care pre- and post-placement are available monthly, free of charge.  Service is provided by a Long Term Care Ombudsman, with the Centralina Area Agency on Aging.  For additional information or an appointment, please phone the Senior Center at 704-873-8568.

CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

Meets the fourth Monday of each month from 2:30-4:30. Are you or a loved one providing care to someone who has a Chronic Illness?  Then a support group is exactly what you need.  This Caregiver Support Group will be both educational and a time to share experiences with others who understand the journey you are on.  Many caregivers feel alone, but this group will help you learn YOU

ARE NOT ALONE!

AARP TAX AIDE ~ February 1-APRIL 18.  They have two locations:  Iredell Senior Center on Mondays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and Fridays from 12:30PM to 4:30 PM.  They are at Western Avenue Baptist Church on Wednesdays from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM.  Call 704-873-8568 for an appointment to have your 2015 taxes filled out electronically.
