Arts, Crafts, Hobbies and Needlecrafts

 

Intermediate Watercolor Painting *** VIDEO ***

Intermediate Watercolor Painting classes are offered on Wednesday afternoons.  You will paint together, step-by-step, a variety of subject matter, learning what colors and techniques are used to achieve the desired results.  A supply list is available.  Instructor:  Judy Carpenter.  Fee:  $30 for six classes.  Registration required and limited to 15 artists.     

   

Acrylic Art Workshop

Wednesdays at 9 AM.  Bring a project and receive guidance from facilitator Annette Ratledge.  No fee…join them anytime!  

 

Needlecrafters *** VIDEO ***

Mondays at 10 AM.  Bring a crochet or knit project and join the group.  Group members also make crafts for the Senior Center Craft Store, and the Charitable Crafts Project.  The Senior Center provides materials and the members contribute their skills.  The Craft Store, on the first floor, is a fundraiser for Iredell Senior Center.

 

 Rubber Stamped Greeting Cards

Monthly on the third Tuesday, at 10 AM.  Make the BEST cards ever!  Create three to four greeting cards and envelopes.  Fee:  $5 for supplies.  Instructor:  Nancy McKay.   *** VIDEO ***


Charitable Projects Workday

Join them on Fridays at 1 PM.  The group members use their skills, with supplies and materials from the Senior Center, to create items for frail older adults and/or children at local businesses and agencies.  Some examples of businesses and agencies that receive projects include:  Barium Springs Children’s Home, Clare Bridge Dementia unit, and the Kidney Dialysis Center.  At this time, people with sewing skills are especially needed.

 

Mats For Homeless *** VIDEO ***

Want to do something useful?  Help others while enjoying yourself with other people?  On Fridays, at 11 AM, you may connect with this social and working group to make mats for local people who are homeless.  Helpers are needed who will flatten the plastic grocery bags, cut them into strips, and crochet the strips into a mat with a large crochet hook.  At this time, people who have crocheting skills  are especially needed.  No fee or registration.

Salt and Pepper Book Club

The Salt and Pepper Book Club meets monthly on the second Monday,  at 1 PM.  This is intended to be a fun & social gathering, open to all ideas!  You are welcome to take part in and/or come to hear the discussion.  This month's discussion is a book of choice.   Facilitated by Jeannie Petrosini.  Refreshments included.  No fee.  Register if you would like a reminder phone call.
